CHATTING

To communicate with others on the Internet. This is usually done in a chat room while typing. Chatting can be done on a one to one basis or in a group.
On the Internet, chatting is talking to other people who are using the Internet at the same time you are. Usually, this "talking" is the exchange of typed-in messages requiring one site as the repository for the messages (or "chat site") and a group of users who take part from anywhere on the Internet.

AUDIO CHATTING:

Voice chat is a modern form of communication used on the Internet. The means of communicating with voice chat is through any of the messengers, mainly Skype, Yahoo! Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger, or Windows Live Messenger.
Audio chat has led to a significant increase in distant communications where two or more people from opposite ends of the world can talk almost free of cost.

VIDEO CHATTING:

Technology for conducting audio and video interaction in real time between users at disparate locations.  Video chats are typically conducted via a computer, tablet or smartphone device (also called videophone chatting), and may involve point-to-point (or one-to-one) interaction, as in the case of FaceTime and Skype, or multi-point (or one-to-many) interaction, as in the typical case of Google Hangouts.Web cam is important for video chatting.

WEBCAM:
webcam is a video camera that feeds its image in real time to a computer or computer network. Unlike an IP camera (which uses a direct connection using ethernet or Wi-Fi), a webcam is generally connected by a USB cable, FireWire cable, or similar cable.
Their most popular use is the establishment of video links, permitting computers to act as videophones or videoconference stations. The common use as a video camera for the World Wide Web gave the webcam its name. Other popular uses include security surveillance, computer vision, video broadcasting, and for recording social videos.
Webcams are known for their low manufacturing cost and flexibility, making them the lowest cost form of videotelephony. They have also become a source of security and privacy issues, as some built-in webcams can be remotely activated via spyware.

SKYPE:

Skype is a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) system developed by Skype Technologies. It is a peer-to-peer network in which voice calls pass over the Internet rather than through a special purpose network. Skype users search for other users to connect to, enabling them to search for other Skype users and send them messages.
Skype uses 256 bit AES encryption to encrypt communication between users, complicating the decryption of these communications. Skype's encryption is inherent in the Skype Protocol and is transparent to callers. Because of this integration the communication between users is considered to be private, although several security concerns exist.

Note: The Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) is a specification for the encryption of electronic data.

Security Policy:

1. Usernames are unique.
2. Callers must present a username and password or other authentication credential.
3. Each caller provides the other with proof of identity and privileges whenever a session is established. Each verifies the other’s proof before the session is allowed to carry messages.

4.Messages transmitted are encrypted from caller to caller. No intermediate node (router) has access to the meaning of these messages.

GOOGLE TALK:

Google Talk is an instant messaging service that provides both text and voice communication. The instant messaging service is colloquially known as "gtalk" or "gchat" to its users, although Google does not endorse this name.
This allows users to send messages to their contacts, even if they are not signed in. They will receive the messages when they next go online even if the user who has sent is offline.
Google Talk is also the name of the client applications previously offered by Google to access the service. Google Talk applications were available for Microsoft Windows (XP,Server 2003, Vista, and Windows 7), Android, Blackberry, and Chrome OS operating systems. A Google Talk web application had also been previously available for Android. In 2013, Google replaced Google Talk client software offerings with those of Google+ Hangouts.

HANGOUTS:

Google+ Hangouts is a free video chat service from Google that enables both one-on-one chats and group chats with up to ten people at a time.
While somewhat similar to SkypeFaceTime and Facebook Video Chat, Google Hangouts focuses more on "face-to-face-to-face" group interaction as opposed to one-on-one video chats, and utilizes sophisticated technology to seamlessly switch the focus to the person currently chatting.

YAHOO! MESSENGER:

Yahoo Messenger (sometimes abbreviated YM) is an advertisement-supported instant messaging client and associated protocol provided by Yahoo. Yahoo! Messenger is provided free of charge and can be downloaded and used with a generic "Yahoo! ID" which also allows access to other Yahoo! services, such as Yahoo! Mail, where users can be automatically notified when they receive new email.

Yahoo! also offers PC-PC, PC-Phone and Phone-to-PC service, file transfers, webcam hosting, text messaging service, and chat rooms in various categories.
